Appointments

If you think you are suffering from diabetes, please make an appointment to see your doctor or practice nurse.

We recommend that all patients with diabetes attend for annual check ups in our Diabetic Review Clinic. During this clinic appointment you will be seen by your diabetic nurse, the dietician and podiatrist. If necessary you will be referred to your GP.

All patients with diabetes are sent an annual invitation to attend this clinic. Please arrange to have your blood test taken at least two weeks prior to your clinic appointment. Blood tests can be taken either at the surgery (by appointment) or at West Berkshire Community Hospital (between 8.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday). No appointment necessary.

All patients with diabetes are invited to attend for annual retinal eye screening at the surgery.

Our diabetic nurses are all qualified nurses who have undertaken further specialist training in diabetes. They will be able to provide you with further information as required.

Our diabetic nurses are Tara, Ness and Beth Tayton.

We also recommend that all patients with diabetes have an annual flu jab. These are given between October and December and can be given in the Diabetic Clinic or in our annual flu clinics; alternatively if you are housebound the District Nurses can arrange to give you the flu jab at home. To book an appointment for a flu jab please ring our appointments line 01635 871117.

NB: Diabetic review clinic appointments are only made if you have been referred by a Thatcham Medical Practice Doctor.
